Message #1 of 4 – We begin a 4-week series on Jesus’ parables in Luke 12 where he addresses the issue of material wealth. We start by examining our fears and discovering our idols.
Message #2 of 4 – Jesus warns us against covetousness can calls us to be content. The example of the Rich Fool reminds us not to merely be rich toward ourselves, but to be rich toward God. For more on this passage, check out “The Parable of the Rich Fool” by Pastor Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church, Seattle. You can download, watch, or listen to it here: The Parable of the Rich Fool
Message #3 of 4 – This week we look at Jesus’ commands again anxiety, worry, and fear, as well as his exhortation not to set our hearts on “stuff”. Instead, we should set our minds and hearts on eternal things, for “where our treasure is, there will our heart be also.”
Message #4 of 4 – Jesus demonstrates both his compassion and his authority in this passage. While he desires to serve us, he requires we remain faithful. We are to wait ready for his return, stewarding our lives, our time, talent, and treasure until the Master returns. (And he is returning!) Would you live and give in the same way if you believed Jesus were returning tomorrow?
