Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we doing this?

Our mission states: We are sent to love people and invite them to follow Jesus with us! Engage provides Wawasee Bible the opportunity to move out of our seats and into the streets on a Sunday morning to live out our mission in a unique way!

By cancelling our regular worship gathering and tackling community work projects, we are learning that church is about more than just the four walls.

Throughout the year people from Wawasee Bible already serve all over our community, but Engage Weekend is our change to make a big impact, loving our community and honoring Jesus.

How do I sign up?

There are several ways to sign up!

  1. Visit this link to sign up online for engage.
  2. Visit the Connect Desk on Sunday morning.
  3. Call the Church Office at 574-658-9161.
What will the schedule look like for that morning?
  • We are going to start off the morning by gathering at the church at 9:00a (Kids can start checking in at 8:45a.)
  • After prayer and a few instructions, we will head out to the project sites. Each project has an assigned leader. Follow your leader! You should be at your project site until about 11:45a.
  • There will be Connections Ministry partners in the Commons for the entire morning to give directions and welcome any visitors.
  • Head back to the church at 11:45a to gather for a church picnic to start at noon!
I've never done anything like this before. Where do I start?

There are projects for everyone! Many of them do not require a particular skill—just a willing heart and a pair of hands. There are usually projects involving yard work, visiting and worshipping with elderly, meal prep & delivery, clean up projects in the community, and more! Many projects are family friendly. It varies from year to year exactly which types of projects will take place.

Where will the projects be located?

Our projects are scattered throughout the greater Wawasee Lakes area including, Milford, Syracuse, and North Webster.

What about kids? Can we bring them along?

You are welcome to serve as a family! Take a look at the list of projects on the sign up or at the Connect Desk and see what would fit your family best.

If you are unsure, we will also offer Kids programing for younger kids at the church from 9a to noon.

What do I wear?

Dress appropriately for the weather! And grab your “You Are Loved” shirt for the day. Don’t have one? Grab one from the Connect Desk or the Church Office!

How can I participate if I am physically unable to do yard work or clean up? Is there something for me?

Yes! Here are some options and there will be more to come!

  • If you are able to drive, you can participate in the prayer walks taking place in Milford. Just plan to drive instead of walk!
  • You can stay at the church and help prep meals to be delivered into the community.
  • You can help us rock babies in the nursery.
What happens if there is inclement weather?

First, pray for great weather that day and plan for it! Then, we will plan as the weather dictates for that morning.

What should I bring with me in order to serve?

That is based on the project that you choose to participate in.

  • For the general clean-up and yard work projects, by yard tools, buckets, lawn trash bags, and whatever else would be helpful.
  • For worship and visiting with elderly, bring your smile and be ready to spread joy.
  • For meal prep, bring a willingness to prepare food and help organize meals.
  • Unsure? Contact the Church Office or Pastor Dave.
