Five Solas: Part 1
Sola Christus (Christ Alone)
Romans 3:21-26
Sunday, October 1, 2017
As we remember the 500th Anniversary this month of Martin Luther’s 95 Theses that sparked the Reformation, we’re studying the “Five Solas”. The Five Solas are a summary of some of the key orthodox doctrines that were reaffirmed and returned to during the Reformation. This week we look at Sola Christus (Christ Alone). Sola Christus affirms that our salvation is secured by the work of Jesus Christ alone on the cross. There is nothing that can be added to it. And there is salvation in no one else. Jesus Christ is the lone mediator between God and mankind. Righteousness is a gift needed by all sinners and received by faith in Jesus.
